How memory cores work
The magnetic ring (magnetic core) is magnetic or non-magnetic to represent the bits of 1 or 0, and a long series of 1 or 0 combinations represent the information to be stored. Magnetic core memory is a type of random access memory that acts as the main memory in a computer.

Performance characteristics
Compared with vacuum tubes, the magnetic core memory saves power and does not have the lifespan problem of vacuum tubes. When computers entered the semiconductor era, there was still a considerable period of time when magnetic core memory continued to play the role of main memory. And because the magnetic core memory is a non-volatile memory (Non-volatile Memory), one of its features is that even if the machine crashes or the power supply is interrupted, as long as there is no wrong write signal, it can still retain its content.
